ProPak Vietnam 2010 reflects brisk demand for innovative packaging technologies

7,464visitors flocked to the trade fair at SaigonExhibition & Convention Center

It’s hard to imagine products today without packaging. This is equally true of the Vietnamese market with its 84 million inhabitants where consumer goods, food and beverage sectors as well as the cosmetics and pharmaceuticals industries in particular are enjoying growing demand. Suppliers of packaging which responds to the demands as well as suppliers of machinery and equipment for processing, filling and packagingare benefiting from these developments.

Exhibitors at ProPak Vietnam 2010, the country’s top trade fair for processing and packaging technology, took advantage of the strong demand in this dynamic market. From 18 to 20 March, they spent three busy days at Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh Citywhere they forged promising new customer contacts and closed deals as well.

Tanatcha Vongamornniti, Branch Manager, SCG Paper PLC.confirms the optimism: "We’ve done more deals [at the Fair] than ever. It is incredibly useful. I have found it invaluable to have the chance to meet and catch up with key international contacts over a few packed days."

In all, there were 7,464 visitors at ProPak Vietnam 2010, the highest number of visitors in the history of the Fair. An increase of 15% trade visitors flocked from throughout the country and other parts of the world to ProPak Vietnam this year.A total of 13% of attendees were from overseas representing 34 countries. They made use of the opportunity to gain an overview of processing and packaging innovations and the latest trends presented by more than 173 exhibiting companies from 20 countries.

David Aitken, Managing Director, Bangkok Exhibition Limited sums up this year’s fair: "Exhibitors and visitors alike found this fair to be the best in a long time. It was a highly energetic trade fair, with strong growth in business opportunities for exhibitors. For visitors, the Fair has brought to Vietnam a wider view of manufacturing efficiency, cost reduction, materials sourcing, marketing and environmental friendliness through the use of advanced technology."

He continued, “As the Vietnamese consumer market is growing at a fast pace, packaging plays a vital role in the manufacture and marketing of products because it serves as a storage and transport container, protects goods and gives them a distinctive look, and for some it is even the key deciding factor when it comes to purchasing a product.”

“Demands are increasing for high-quality packaging shapes and materials. Easy-to-open solutions and modern packaging design are also gaining the momentum. Domestic and international producers are investing in expansions and upgrades to existing plants as well as in packaging materials. This year’s Fair was once again a huge and full success in responding the trends.”

Covering an area of 3,960 sqm, ProPak Vietnam 2010featured a wide range of technologies and solutions as well as industrial conferences and special events to meet the needs of those from food and beverage processing manufacturers, laboratories, pharmaceutical manufacturers, canners, frozen food manufacturers, quality controllers, preserved food manufacturers, cosmetic and healthcare manufacturers, dairies, seafood processing manufacturers, to brewing, bottling and agricultural supplies.

With generous support from the Vietnamese government and relevant private sectors, the perception of the ProPak Vietnam as an important manufacturing growth measure has expanded considerably. Its coincidence with Plastics & Rubber Vietnam 2010 helped match up supply and demand perfectly.
